Deleting iTunes Duplicates

The iTunes’ “Show Duplicates” feature is helpful but you have to manually examine each and every track to know whether you want to keep or delete the tracks that it identifies.

To do this manually simply follow the following steps; Go to the music tab in iTunes >> Select File and click Display Duplicates.>> Select the duplicates you wish to delete.>> Press DELETE >> a dialog message will appear asking if you are sure. Proceed if you are absolutely sure.

The show Duplicates tool unfortunately works by guessing files that appear to be the same in the library. It will often show two songs that are quite similar in naming or artist but not necessarily the same for example a live version as opposed to an album version. This is the reason this feature cant be used as magic fix my library button.

Using Smart Playlists is often of no use and trying to locate all duplicates files with them can be very tedious as they crowd the source list and they can lead to iTunes slowing down and even sometimes hanging. Enter the software Dupin with its many useful features.
